WE MUST REST

Getting rest for the sake of rest is NOT THE WHOLE point.

We rest and get rest so that we can work again.

There is a beautiful ebb and flow of working and resting; of being filled up so that we can pour out.

We wake up each day with a certain amount of mental, emotional, and physical energy. When we have poured out everything we have to give, WE MUST REST.

When we are in this empty state, there is less of us to get in the way of His work in our lives.

SO Lean in, be still, and rest. This is the most opportune and appropriate time to be filled up with God’s Spirit.

Go to church and find rest no matter what or where you are and allow His presence to bring REST.

DISCONNECT FROM DISTRACTION & FIND REST

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”
Psalms 46:10 NLT

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in HIM.”
Psalms 62:5 NLT

“DISCONNECT FROM DISTRACTIONS & FIND REST!”

“If you don’t take time away from the world around you, you’re going to get pulled down by the world around you.”— Erwin McManus

One of the definitions of rest is to be free from anxiety or disturbance.

In this time in our lives, we can easily find things that would disturb our rest as well as cause anxiety. They may be enjoyable in the moment and feel like they refresh us, but in the end, we are depleted from true rest.

Countless people are talking about the different ways to disconnect in our ultra-connected world. There are books, articles, podcasts, and messages giving us three steps to not be overwhelmed by things that rob our attention. But not everyone is distracted by the same things. What distracts one person is not a struggle for the next.

In order to break away from the distractions in our lives, we have to consider a couple of things.

First, we have to know what distracts us. Those things that tear us away from the important because they either feel urgent or they are just fun to indulge in.

And secondly, we have to be willing to lay down our agendas so that the most important people in our lives don’t feel like distractions.

Whatever that thing is that steals peace and rest from us, we must set some limits. Likely after reading that sentence, we all know exactly what it is.
Instead of letting distractions keep us from rest and the most important people in our lives, maybe we;

A. Don’t open our computer for work while our kids are awake.
B. Choose to focus on the good instead of being distracted by the worries of the world.
C. Set a specific ringtone for our family members and let the rest go to voicemail.
D. Choose not to watch TV until the weekend.
E. Set aside our plans for the future so that we can live in the present.
F. Set time limits on certain websites, apps or video games.

If we find ourselves in a continual place of anxiety and feeling disturbed, we must decrease or even eliminate such things that cause us to feel that way.

It won’t be easy. Anything worth having takes work and sacrifice. Let’s not go another day where we allow the distractions of this world to keep us from God’s best rest for us.

What is the biggest thing that distracts you from truly resting?
MINE CAN SIMPLY BE THE DEMAND MINISTRY HAS ON MY TIME.

What steps do you need to take today to remove or limit these distractions in your life?
The answer to this question could be life changing for those desperately needing REST and rejuvenation mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

LOVE YA.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REST?

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Matthew 11:28‭-‬30 NLT

“WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO REST?”

Our schedules seem to be getting fuller with each passing month. When we attempt to get together with friends, we are surprised that our next open evening is over a month away. There are our kids’ activities, church events, work projects, birthday parties, and summer vacations.

We have programmed and planned our entire lives leaving little to no room for anything that might remotely rejuvenate us and offer us rest.

Too often we think that rest means we should be lazy. It means we can totally chill out at home and do absolutely nothing. While there may be an element of that in our restful times, that is not the whole story.

1. REST IS ABOUT RECOVERY!
It is knowing when we are drained, exhausted, and need to breathe deeply for a while. It is knowing our limits and how we are handling the demands of our daily lives. In order for our bodies to truly recover, we must receive abundant rest, which includes sleeping well at night. If we find ourselves tired on a regular basis, it would be wise for us to evaluate not only the amount of nightly sleep we are getting but the time frame we are getting it.

2. REST is ABOUT REFRESHMENT.
It is learning what energizes us and what doesn’t. It is choosing to incorporate activities or stillness that will bring refreshing times to our spirits. If we continue doing things that deplete us when we should be finding things that fill us, refreshment will never come. We must make more deposits into this bucket than withdrawals during our times of rest.

3. REST is ABOUT RENEWAL
It is experiencing a deep renewal in all parts of our lives. It is spending time with God so that we are spiritually made new. While we may love to do certain things that refresh us mentally, ultimately, we need our spirits refreshed by spending time with God each day.

We ALL will dive into some ways to find rest for our bodies, minds, and spirits.

We MUST learn how to incorporate routines that become daily habits. And in doing so, we will be on our way towards eliminating mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical depletion from our lives.

When you think of getting rest, does it feel like an impossibility? ME TOO. FOR SOME OF US REST IS NOT EASY.

What area of your life do you feel needs the most rest? Body, mind, or spirit?

NOW IS THE TIME TO ANSWER SUCH QUESTIONS AND JUST BE so God can fill you back up to overflow.

Blessings.

DON’T TOUCH MY CHOSEN PEOPLE

A GREAT truth and reminder from my father Pastor Allen Tyson.
Enjoy. Love you all. Pastor Ken.

“Do not touch my chosen people,
and do not hurt my prophets (Psalm 105:15 NLT)

What if God has His hand on this man to lead our nation?
Those who are so viciously attacking him are either extremely ignorant or completely blinded by their rage that they have no fear of God’s wrath.

I was raised to respect our leadership and praying for the protection against all the evil that will try to stop them from doing the job they were voted into office to do. Little did I know the evil would be those of men and women who were elected to “Help” lead our country in peace .

Look again haters and you will see the anointed of God are protected by God and WOE to that one who tries to harm them.
Woe to those who cause division for they do the one thing God HATES .
There are six things the Lord hates –
no, seven things he detests:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies
a person who sows discord in a family (Proverbs 6:16-19]

WITH ONLY HIS WORD creation fell into line and obeyed HIS DECREES!
The beauty of His creation stands as a reminder that HIS LOVE IS ETERNAL.

Just a thought for you to ponder today.
If He made all of creation and tells us it’s beautiful WHY CAN’T YOU & I ACCEPT THAT’S WHAT WE ARE????

He sees us and beautiful – “Fearfully and wonderfully made!”
With His track record of honesty to all of mankind, I WOULD START TRUSTING WHAT HE SAYS YOU ARE!!

CHRISTIAN WITHOUT BEING CHRISTLIKE

“Real talk with PK!” BEWARE AND BE-AWARE!!

To be a “CHRISTIAN” without being “Christlike” literally reveals you are not a “CHRISTIAN” at all!

People are no longer satisfied with “Christians” who can quote Scripture because they know the Bible but refuse to live by it’s decrees! Satan quoted Scripture!

“Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. Such people CLAIM THEY KNOW GOD, but they DENY HIM by:

THE WAY THEY LIVE – THE WAY THEY LIVE – THE WAY THEY LIVE- THE WAY THEY LIVE!!
They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.”
Titus 1:15‭-‬16 NLT

“As for you, Titus, promote the kind of
LIVING – LIVING – LIVING – LIVING
that reflects wholesome teaching.”
Titus 2:1 NLT

OUR WORDS SPEAK LOUDER WHEN OUR LIFE REFLECTS WHAT IS SAID!!

“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, BY THE WAY THEY ACT. Can you pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. YES, JUST AS you can identify a tree by its fruit, SO YOU CAN IDENTITY PEOPLE by their ACTIONS.
Matthew 7:15‭-‬20 NLT

I will FOREVERMORE PREACH with my LIFE! And when needed I WILL use words!!!!
WILL YOU WHOM CLAIM TO BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST & GOD’S WORD JOIN ME???

I assure you THIS IS A LIFE AND DEATH QUESTION IN WHICH many will not preach because we’ve tried to soften the Word that warns us of AN ETERNAL CONSEQUENCE!
HEAVEN IS REAL AND HELL IS STILL HOT. SO WE HAVE A CHOICE TO MAKE NOW!!

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Matthew 7:21‭-‬27 NLT

WE MUST DECIDE we are no satisfied with knowing OF our Savior alone!

WE WILL BE THE BELIEVERS WHO INTIMATELY KNOW GOD AND TAKE UP our cross to FOLLOW JESUS!

WE WILL BE THE REMNANT THAT WALKS IN THE AUTHORITY AND POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!!

Love you all enough to say the hard to hear TRUTH and not just the feel good promises.

Have a blessed life.

THERE’S GOT TO BE MORE

BEWARE & BE-AWARE.

“REAL TALK WITH PK.”

Do you ever scream from the inside “There’s Got to Be More!”

Do you ever have the feeling that you are chasing something in life that won’t fully satisfy you? Pay attention to that feeling. It’s from God.

We’re not just talking about substance abuse issues, although drinking and pursuing other addictions are certainly ways of chasing something futile. But we’ve also known a lot of “good church people” who sit in a service every week—or who preach from a pulpit to those people—who feel themselves to be far from God. They’re “successful” or “put together” or “righteous” on the outside, but they’re missing God on the inside. They keep busy with religious practices and work, school, or family, but it just isn’t enough. They long for God to feel real to them.

That longing is the first spiritual awakening for all of us finding our way back to God: “There’s got to be more.”

When you long for a love that is deep and satisfying, when you want to give yourself to something that will truly make a difference, or when you seek answers to life’s most difficult questions, you are looking for God.

You’ve really got two options:

  1.  You can keep searching to fill these longings on your own, or
  2.  You can look to the One who gave you those longings in the first place.

Our longing for real love goes all the way back to how the human race was made in the first place.

God intended that we experience his love both directly from him and through others we relate to in a healthy way.

What we long for, God doesn’t just have but actually God is. He is love and he pursues us with love.

We’ve heard it said that every man who knocks on the door of a brothel is really looking for God. If you are knocking on the door of some self-destructive behavior or relationship, you might actually have arrived at an important point in your journey back to God. Why? Because the disappointment you inevitably feel in cheap substitutes will make you wonder where you can find real love. Will you open yourself up to letting God fill your longing to love and be loved?

What do your activities this week suggest about what you think will satisfy you?

Love ya. PK

1 John 4:17‭-‬21 NLT

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first. If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

THE TONGUE

BEWARE & BE-AWARE…

Again I will say what some may not.
It is not ok to curse those you know or use foul language. Stop loosing your cool and making excuses as a believer for cursing and speak LIFE.

“Real Talk With PK!”

No matter how you try to rationalize or EXCUSE profanity, dirty jokes and gossip; IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN you should know its not ok.

“But now is the time to GET RID OF anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.”
Colossians 3:8 NLT

“Get rid OF” or “Don’t Use” are not suggestions to consider but commands prompting spiritual maturity. WHY??

Simple: We can not reach the world by acting like the world if we expect to lead them to Christ.

We must SHOW the world that the power of the Holy Spirit can EMPOWER every part of our lives & even tame the most vile member of the human body- OUR “UNTAMABLE” Tongue!

In the book of James we are assured that without HELP tongue can not be tamed. But with Christ everything changes when we yield control to HIM.

IF WE ARE NO DIFFERENT after coming to Jesus– the lost will not want what looks and sounds like the same pain they face as sinners seeking hope!

“Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:29‭-‬32 NLT

I DIDN’T SAY IT GODS WORD DOES.

Love ya. PK.

THE HUMAN HEART

BEWARE & BE-AWARE-
Today remember with me one POWERFUL TRUTH as we navigate a year of VICTORY;
“WE ARE NOT CALLED TO FOLLOW OUR HEARTS!”
“REAL TALK WITH PK!”

“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord , search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”
Jeremiah 17:9‭-‬10 NLT

Jesus himself said;
“But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.”
Matthew 15:18‭-‬19 NLT

He also said; Luke 12:34 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
SO THIS IS WHY WE MUST “LOVE THE LORD OUR GOD WITH ALL OF OUR HEART , soul, mind and strength!!”

WE HAVE been called to follow JESUS NOT OUR HEART! One major reason many are walking away from ministry, family and Gods perfect will in record numbers is because they have believed a lie. “Follow your heart!”

NO!!! We don’t follow our hearts WHILE OBEDIENTLY living the “CALLED” LIFE! WE obey Gods Word and follow HIS DECREES.

“For God saved us AND CALLED US to live a holy life. HE DID THIS, not because we deserved it, but because that was HIS plan from before the beginning of time—to show us HIS grace through Christ Jesus. And now HE has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He BROKE THE POWER OF death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. And God CHOSE ME TO BE A PREACHER, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.”
2 Timothy 1:9‭-‬11 NLT

WHEN we want to give up or walk away from who, where and what GODS plan is—- often God will remind us OF WHO CHOSE WHO!!!

We do not choose our ministry, the church we attend, what gift of the Holy Spirit that will be imparted to us. GOD DOES.
Pride in our heart will deceive us into believing we have that power or “RIGHT!”
But the truth is by faith we have forfeited our rights for the sake of “Taking up our cross to follow JESUS!”

Thank you ABBA for choosing us!

Love ya.

YOU’RE NOT SOBER WHEN YOU SMOKE WEED

BEWARE & BE-AWARE. I’ll say it even when it’s not popular in this current culture!!

“Real Talk With PK!”

YOU ARE NOT SOBER when you are SMOKING WEED!!!

While I was growing up in Hawaii I smoked entirely TOO, TOO MUCH WEED. Alcohol was 1st then before long I began marijuana and in Hawaii is was REALLY GOOD let me tell ya.
I’m not boasting in this but want to make a valid point that requires knowing the quality of what I was smoking.

By standards that measured good by how “stoned” you became, I never smoked weed then remained SOBER. The opposite was true. It altered my mood and although I did not black out drunk – myself and EVERYONE who joined me all changed. Some became hyperactive and funny while others mellowed out and had not a care in the world.

The point?????
WHY ARE WE CONSTANTLY fighting for the right to excuse why we “CAN” USE this or that while we cope or need to relax???????

What we should be asking ourselves as it pertains to any substance that we use is;
“WHY ISN’T JESUS ENOUGH TO US TO TAKE THE EDGE OFF?”
FOR THE BELIEVERS our fight is so dangerous that GOD’S WORD REQUIRES US TO BE “ALERT & SOBER MINDED!!” Not just for ourselves but for every life we will come in contact with as in our lives!! We can not become someone’s stumbling block because Jesus has not become enough in our life!!

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
1 Peter 5:8 KJV

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
1 Peter 5:8 NLT

I DIDN’T SAY IT  – GOD’S WORD DOES!!
We can’t lead people to find FREEDOM and expect them to remain sober if we are drinking a few beers with them and smoking a joint!!!

“But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble. For if others see you—with your “superior knowledge”—eating in the temple of an idol, won’t they be encouraged to violate their conscience by eating food that has been offered to an idol? So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed. And when you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ. So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.”
1 Corinthians 8:9‭-‬13 NLT

Have a blessed day and remember JESUS IS ENOUGH!!!

Love ya. PK
